History

I was born in Hamburg on January 23 1956 and I am one of the most renowned trainers in dressage for decades. I discovered my passion for horses and equestrian sports at an early age. That’s why I chose the training path to become a professional rider and trainer.

Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to learn from the best dressage trainers of the 20th century. This experience not only provided me with technical skills but also a deep understanding of horses and their training. As a result, I was able to successfully obtain qualifications as a professional riding instructor, state-certified diploma trainer and Grand Prix judge.

For 11 years, I have led the German Riding School in Warendorf. There, I was responsible for the training, examination and further education of German professional riders. In particular, it was my task to teach and clarify the successful German training system, developed over centuries to young professional riders and trainers in both theory and practice.

Subsequently, I have managed the “Hesselhof” for another 11 years, a dressage training center that is specialized in training horses and riders up to Grand Prix level.

Since 2011, I have been working internationally as a trainer, individual coach, and course leader. I served as the national trainer for two years in Spain and for seven years in France, responsible for the juniors and young riders.

For many years, I have successfully coached international U25 riders and seniors in Grand Prix sports. Among them are also seniors I have trained who are on the A-teams of their countries.

One of my passions is discovering young, talented dressage horses and preparing them for competitive sports through horse-friendly training. Several horses I have trained have been successful at Championships for five- and six-year-olds dressage horses.

These successes motivate me to continue sharing my passion for horses and dressage and to discover and encourage new talents.
